In Loving Memory of Barbara Ann Betker

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barb Betker on May 30, 2025, in Saskatoon, at the age of 76.

Born on September 7, 1948, in Hafford, Saskatchewan, Barb was lovingly raised by her father and paternal grandparents, Nellie and Jules, in Sonningdale, SK, who instilled in her the values of loyalty, resilience, and generosity.

Although Barb was a pediatric nurse for over 20 years, above all else, her greatest goal and achievement in life was being a mother. She devoted herself fully to her sons, Jody (Amanda) and Chad (Heidi), always putting their needs first-well ahead of Lionel's, though he got used to that after 53 years of marriage.

Barbara built a life full of love, good home cooking, quick wit, and the ability to share her opinion with a single look. We all know that famous glare, especially if she thought you were trying to cheat while playing cards. But underneath it all, she was a deeply devoted Wife, Mother, and Gammy, loving her family fiercely and always making sure they were cared for.

Barb loved being a grandma to Kamryn, Addison, Rowan, Gabby, and Luka, and always ensured the contraband snack drawer was well stocked. She also leaves behind her close aunt Elaine and uncle Carman, along with many dear cousins.

Barbara was predeceased by her father Arnie, her brother Wayne, and her mother Annie. Though she faced physical challenges in her later years, her mind remained sharp and competitive, her humor intact, and she found true joy in life's simple moments-spending time with family, playing cards with lifelong friends, sharing laughs, and reminding Lionel that she was always right (and she usually was).

A celebration of Barb's life will be held at a later date (still to be determined), where friends and family can gather to share stories, laughter, and memories. Barb will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
