February 15, 1929 — June 23, 2025

February 15th/1929-June 23/2025

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Bernie T Moltz announces her passing June 23/2025 at Cozy Nest Care Home in Saskatoon.

Bernie is survived by her 4 children. Brenda(Doug)Norman Faye(Bill)Langlois Richard(Laura)Moltz Traci(Paul)Ethier, 13 grandchildren. She was also a great grandmother and a great great grandmother. Bernie is also survived by her youngest sister Mildred(Leonard) Kistner and brother in law John Martin. Bernie was predeceased by her parents, husband Dick and her two sisters Leona(Fred) Milbury and Irene(John)Martin.

Bernie was born in Bethune SK to George and Katherine Siegmeth. She grew up on the family farm one of 4 sisters. She loved to tell us stories of the farm and her life growing up there! She graduated from Regina Business College and worked for the government where she met and married the love of her life Richard H Moltz(Dick).

Bernie& Dick raised their family on their farm outside of Bethune. Bernie at that time enjoyed styling the ladies hair in Bethune or they would often come out to the farm to have their hair done. She also had a huge garden and canned an abundance of fruits and vegetables in the fall. Lots of meal preparation in the fall to take meals out to the fields.

Around the early 70's Bernie decided to change her focus and started working for the Bethune Credit Union. By 1978 Bernie& Dick moved to Assiniboia Sask to own the Assiniboia Lodge Hotel with their daughter Brenda & Doug Norman. In 1982 they moved to Pense to own the Pense Hotel(Sodbusters) with their son Richard&Laura Moltz. Upon retirement Bernie&Dick remained in Pense enjoying their family and grandchildren and spending the summers at Bernie's ultimate love her cabin at Grandview Beach! She said she had been going there for 90 years as her parents would take the family swimming as children!

So where do you start to describe a woman like BT Moltz!! She was a strong independent thinker,a trailblazer in many ways and a woman with a generous heart! She loved being involved in the community. She taught Bethune Explorers, was an avid Lutheran church member, a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid, a member of the Good Neighbours Ladies group and a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved her bowling night each week while she lived in Bethune and was an avid curling fan and followed all the curling games on TV. She was passionate about reading and spent countless hours immersed in a book.

She had great love for animals especially her horses when she was younger and all her life she loved dogs. Special shout out to her dogs Brody and Doc which helped her heal immensely after the passing of Dick. She so thoroughly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren taking great interest in their lives and accomplishments. She was always shopping for their birthdays or for their special occasions and at Christmas she dedicated her spare room to all the gifts she would wrap for all of us!

She loved her garden and planting flowers. She would plant flowers in rubber tires down the driveway of the farm which was surrounded in lilac bushes which she loved to smell every spring. She ran a tight ship where us kids were concerned with her wooden spoon occasionally appearing if we gave her too much back talk! But also was at the ready all her life to help us whenever we needed her. Her cooking and baking were second to none! Buns, pies, cinnamon buns, homemade soups, cabbage rolls were delicious! Her Pense hotel patrons loved her chocolate cake and roast beef lunches!

She could be playful too often times she would get snapping us with a wet dish towel or would often challenge Richard to an arm wrestle. She was very strong for most of her years that's for sure!

She enjoyed visiting. Loved having family and friends stop in for a visit and refreshments! She left a lasting impression on everyone she met! She loved to travel visiting relatives with also trips to Germany,Florida and Nova Scotia.

We were so fortunate that she was our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. We love you. We will miss you.But we are so happy you are together with Dad in heaven. To finish up we would like to add this poem by an unknown author.

We begin to remember not just that you died but that you lived.
And that your life gave us memories to beautiful to forget.

As per Mom's wishes to not have a funeral a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
