How do I begin to talk about my wondering son Casey? He was born in Saskatoon, November 8th, 1985, 39 years ago. It was just me and Casey. When he was in school he could run fast, he was in the house before the teacher could tell me what trouble he was in. (6 blocks) He had trouble at school. He had ADHD, so he was smart but had trouble with the learning part.
He got his grade 10. We moved to Cedar Lodge at 15 years. He started working there and had many adventures. He came back to the city and worked at Canadian tire for 7 years. He was a very good salesman. He could sell you anything.
This was good times but his troubles began. He found pleasure in drinking and a hard drug. Then it started to swivel. He quit the job, and moved into our basement suite. Mental illness took over Casey. He had the uncontrollable evil thoughts and actions, and could not work due to it. Then they made Cannabis legal, and his life shifted to the better. The weed would calm his demons. He could always help me. I had to sell the house. Casey moved to his own apartment which he was grateful for. He had a great support team; Sheri and Kate. It did not truly stop the demons from controlling his thoughts. Music was a comfort, he listened to Gods music. He would listen all night long to comfort and allow peace.
Casey also worried about the homeless on 20th. So often he would mention the situations of people who lived around him. One story that comes to mind about a girl who had sore hand and wanted his lighter. He saw her plight and told her that she can't have his but he will go to the store to get her own one.
Where Casey died, my sister, daughter, and friend took less than an hour to take out content. I said to put it in 3 boxes and set it by the dumpster because Casey wanted to give back to 20th street. The next day, nothing was left. Even the frozen food was gone.
There will be a Graveside service at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery. For those wishing to attend, please meet at the cemetery gates at 1:45 PM.
You have your peace now. In heaven with Jesus. Enjoy
Mom
