Darryl Hildebrand

May 9, 1967 — July 10, 2025

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl Nevin Hildebrand, beloved husband, son and brother on July 10, 2025.

Darryl was born to Leonard and Elaine Hildebrand on May 9th, 1967 in Outlook Hospital. The family then moved to Soab Lake in north central Manitoba. Darryl's father was employed with Brodsky Construction and they completed a job there. The family then purchased a ranch in southern Manitoba in 1967. The name of the Canada Post Office was Overstoneville, MB. Cousins lived nearby so Darryl got to get to know and love them. He attended school in Dominion City for his Grade 1-6.

Darryl loved hockey and he learned how to skate on the frozen dug out on the farm when he was about 3 years old. He later joined a hockey team and played in Ridgeville Rink. How he loved to play hockey.

The ranch was sold in 1976 and the family moved to Saskatoon, SK. His father was again employed by Brodsky Construction. Darryl finished his public school years at Lorne Hazelton and then completed his high school at Walter Murray Collegiate.

He was always friendly, outgoing and energetic. He had many friends. He played hockey in Saskatoon for The Bruins and played to a level A. He also played soccer for South Nutana Park Steelers and Fastball for a Zone team. He loved sports and played his hardest. He worked for Brodsky Construction during one summer when he was in high school. After graduation, he attended Saskatchewan Polytech in Saskatoon and learned to be a heavy duty mechanic. He had learned quite a lot about mechanics from his father.

Darryl was a lifelong Bruins fan and enjoyed watching the games with passion. He never hesitated to help out other people. He wore his heart on his sleeve.

Darryl worked for Warner/Winnacott Industries for 30 plus years. He was a good and faithful worker. A valued member of the team. His body was weakening but he kept working. He loved boating and fishing, especially at Diefenbaker Lake. He would often, jokingly say that he had been "out fished" again by Nancy.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Nancy (nee Lupky) Hildebrand, his mother Elaine Schellenberg, his brother Scott/Kathy Hildebrand and his sister Kim Hildebrand. He also has 3 nieces (Katy, Shaneice, Breanne) and 1 nephew (Jeffrey). He was a great uncle to Brooke, Clara, Marlee and Finn. He is also survived by his parents in law, Peter and Erika Lupky and his beloved cousins. His 4 legged fur babies surely miss him.

He was predeceased by his father, Leonard A Hildebrand in 2000 and by his step-father, Robert Schellenberg in 2021. Also his grandparents Fred and Stella Wall and Jake and Helene Warkentine.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or your local SPCA.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.
