Darwin Frank Miller

October 6, 1958 — May 11, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darwin Frank Miller who passed away on May 11, 2026 at the age of 67 after a short battle with lung cancer. Darwin passed peacefully after a brief stay at the Palliative Care Unit in St. Paul’s Hospital with his children by his side.

Darwin was born on October 6, 1958 and grew up on the Miller family farm near Young in the Allan hills. The country is where Darwin developed his free spirit, his love of the outdoors, and working with his hands. It brought him a sense of peace and belonging amongst the wandering hills.

Darwin is lovingly remembered by his children Dustin and Stephanie (Travis) and Granddaughters Madyson and Taya who he cherished dearly.

Darwin was the beloved son of Joy Miller, and a brother to Clayton (Tammy), Patti (Dave) and Jason (Rachelle), as well as an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Darwin is predeceased by his father Charles (Charlie) Miller, his oldest brother Doug Miller, his Grandparents Frank Miller, Edward Lewis, and Annie, and Grandparents Eva and Frank Holdner, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Darwin spent his early years working around the family farm, and working construction as a welder. Growing up, he enjoyed attending local dances in the area and spending time with friends. He later worked construction building dust collectors, grain elevator slips, and bridges and overpasses across the prairies. His greatest work accomplishment was working with both his children at a local alfalfa plant in Outlook. He worked as an iron worker for many years. Heights never bothered him; he spent many hours roofing on various projects with his children, including houses, grain elevators, and barns.

Darwin raised his children in Kenaston with Vickie where he lived until his passing. Darwin could often be found tinkering in his yard, working on his Volkswagen Rabbit cars, or making trips out to the Miller farm where he would help his brothers with their farm welding projects.

Darwin loved being a grandpa. He spent his final months with his granddaughters by his side making special memories. Darwin enjoyed sharing his wisdom and ideas with anyone that would listen and found peace in the simple things in life.

His family is grateful for the wonderful and compassionate care he received during his stay at Royal University Hospital in 5100. For the dedicated and compassionate care of his Palliative Home Care nurses after his discharge from hospital, and for the exceptional care he received at the St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit in his final days.

A private Celebration of Life will be held for Darwin’s family and friends on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2:00pm in Dundurn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darwin’s memory to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit in Saskatoon, or the Kenaston Volunteer Fire Department.
