Lorraine Shumlanski (née Frechette), born Delle Lorraine, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2026, at the age of 86. She went to sleep on April 16 and joined her loving husband and daughter the following day.
Lorraine was born on October 6, 1939, in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. She completed her Grade 12 education and began working at a young age, building a life rooted in hard work and dedication. She met her husband, Jim Shumlanski, and they were married on October 10, 1959. Together, they raised four children and operated a dairy farm until 1980. The farm remains a meaningful place for the family, where the barn still stands today.
Following their farming years, Lorraine and Jim took on a new chapter, running a motel, restaurant, and gas station in Dundurn, Saskatchewan. After Jim's passing, Lorraine eventually sold the business and spent many years living with her daughter Stephanie. She really enjoyed her grandson Nick's hockey. Following and watching games all over Canada.
Lorraine faced health challenges later in life, including two strokes, but remained strong and independent for as long as possible. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and loved to travel, visiting places such as California, Florida, Las Vegas, and New Brunswick.
She will be remembered for her independence, resilience, and stubbornness, as well as her deep dedication to her family.
Lorraine is survived by her children:
Stephanie (Scott), Myles (Vivian), and Tim.
She was predeceased by her daughter Becky.
She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren:
Tyrell (Shanel), Sydney (Bryce), Nick (Miranda), Colton (Blair), Cody, and Corrinne.
She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, with whom she cherished:
Dani, Greta, Spencer, and Owen.
Lorraine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
