Donald (Don) “DW” Heimark passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 75.
Don was born in Beechy, Saskatchewan, and was the son of the late Conrad and Annie Heimark. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and hockey, hunting with his dad, and was self-taught on the drums and guitar, going on to play in various bands.
He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Rosanne; his daughter, Tanis (Todd); his son, Jeffrey; and his grandchildren, Jessie and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis. Don was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother Larry and sister Brenda.
Don had a passion for music and spent time writing songs, singing, and playing lead guitar in a band called “Dear Friends.” Among his songs was “Daughter of Mine,” written in honour of his daughter Tanis. He married the love of his life, Rosanne, in 1977.
He worked for CP Rail from 1981 until his retirement in 2013. Earlier in life, Don enjoyed coaching his son Jeff through minor hockey. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing his guitar, and watching his grandchildren play hockey. He was a proud father, grandfather, and husband, and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held at a later date.
