Ernest Marvin Wlock

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ernest Wlock on April 23, 2026, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the age of 82.

Ernest was born on August 1, 1943 to Frank and Katie (Woloshyn) Wlock and raised in Jedburgh, Saskatchewan. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Lisa Wlock, Sandra Woods, and his granddaughter Kayley Pelletier and her husband Braeden Pelletier. Ernest will be dearly missed by his sister Sylvia Coppicus. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (O'Dell) Wlock (2025), his brother, Allan Isidor Wlock (2012), and his second wife of 28 years, Madeline Didyk Wlock (2010).

Ernest led a full and accomplished life. He began his career in 1962 with Western Grocers, working across five branches in Yorkton, SK; Thunder Bay, ON; Winnipeg, MB; North Battleford, SK; and finally Saskatoon, SK. He dedicated 33 years to the company before retiring in 1995. Never one to remain idle, Ernest went on to become the proud owner and operator of Mountainview Petro-Canada in Dundurn, which he ran successfully for seven years.

Ernest thrived on staying active and engaged throughout his life. In his younger years, while raising his family, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing cards with friends. Family camping trips across Canada and the United States were fond memories.

A lifelong passion for Ernest was stamp collecting. What began at the age of 8 years old, his hobby grew into a remarkable personal and professional achievement. As an advid and knowledgeable philatelist, he was a long-standing member of the Saskatoon Stamp Club, authoring 38 articles for Canadian Stamp News and serving four years as Director of the National Philatelists of Canada. His dedication and expertise earned him the admiration of fellow collectors nationwide.

During retirement, Ernest and Madeline spent many joyful winters at their second home in Mesa, Arizona. In later years, Ernest resided at Scott Forget Towers in Saskatoon, where he remained an active and vibrant member of the senior community. Serving on the recreation and activities committee, he forged lifelong friendships and created many treasured memories. He lived with enthusiasm, staying current with sports and politics, always ready to cheer for his teams or engage in a spirited debate. He was a man who took great pride in staying busy, he was constantly working with his hands-whether fixing, painting, or landscaping-to maintain and beautify his surroundings.

Ernest will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, devotion to family, and his unyielding energy and motivation. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and passion for life.

A private family service and cremation will be held in accordance to Ernest's wishes.
