Glen passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 31, 2025, in Saskatoon, Sk. at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Bumphrey), children; Matthew (Parker) Zmud, Danny (Brooklynn) Zmud & Laura Zmud; granddaughter Nora; sister Elna (Don) Creedon, sibling in- laws; Marilyn Cartwright, Ron (Joan) Bumphrey, Wayne (Michelle) Bumphrey, numerous nieces & nephews, the family pets & friend Natalie Bessey. Glen was predeceased by parents Gordon & Meryle Cartwright, brother Ron Cartwright & Gordon & Jean Bumphrey.
Glen was born on August 24, 1962, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the youngest of 3. He was raised in Winnipeg & in his teenage years the family built an acreage on Blackdale Road, in West St Paul. He achieved his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. He worked numerous jobs in his early career & later joined the Animal Health industry with Hoescht, Schering-Plough & Merck, advancing to a Territory Manager of the Food Animal Business Unit for Western Canada.
Glen married Carolyn in August 2004, becoming stepdad to Matt, Danny & Laura. They built a country home by Blackstrap Lake where they raised their family, along with many four-legged companions.
He served on numerous boards & volunteer committees, including agricultural & veterinary events. His recent passion was volunteering & involvement with the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation.
Glen loved teaching, including teaching the kids new skills, veterinary students & teaching courses as a Master Firearm Instructor. He was a football fan, loved hunting, fishing, lake-time camping & at the cabin, dancing, music, & playing cards. Glen loved all animals & had a special bond with his dogs & horses. In his youth he was an equine instructor & as an adult enjoyed endurance racing with his beloved horse, Willy. He was a dedicated family man & loved cooking for family & friends.
He faced his double health diagnosis with great courage & his focus remained on his family needs first. Special thanks to his medical team, including Crystal, Raelene, Tara & Paula for their exceptional care. Thank you to the friends at Saskatoon Wildlife Federation & Prairie View Chapel for handling the Celebration of Life arrangements.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Saskatoon Wildlife Federation on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with a Social to follow.
