We are sad to announce the passing of Jeffrey Dean Leonard Haugen, age 52. He left us peacefully but way too soon on November 13, 2024 with his loved ones by his side at Glengarda Hospice after a four year battle with cancer and its many health complications.
Jeff was born on August 17, 1972 beloved son to Doug and June (Rivard). He shared a close bond with his younger sister, Tricia (Brice and niece “baby” Paxton Wunsch), enjoying countless adventures and memories during their childhood. Their laughter and companionship were a treasured part of his life. Following June marrying Raymond Rivard in 1990, he gained step-siblings Danielle, Marc (Mel) and Natalie (Shayne and nephews John and Sam Feltis).
Jeff graduated from E.D. Feehan High School in 1990 and went on to achieve his Certificate in Business Administration in 2019 from the University of Saskatchewan. Jeff spent his professional career at the Saskatoon Public School Board starting in 1994 in the Maintenance Shop leaving as the Manager of Operations.
In his youth and early adult years, he was deeply involved in the soccer community, where he built lasting friendships and ultimately met the love of his life, Rikki (Kreutzwieser) Haugen his wife of 21 years. Jeff’s greatest achievement was his being a very proud father to three children, Jesse Lyons, Kennedy Kreutzwieser and Taven Haugen who he loved more than anything. As a family some of their favourite memories together were at Candle Lake (his happy place), attempting to organize an annual Christmas selfie, and most recently their trip to Toronto.
Many other loving family members (as Jeff was blessed on all sides) Aunts, uncles, parent/grandparents-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins will feel this loss, including: the Haugens, Wickenhausers, Kreutzwiesers, and Howes.
Jeff held close and cherished lots of friendships, coworkers, and teammates that he made throughout his lifetime. He was always quick to smile and laugh, to hug or bug and shake hands. He loved to visit and joke around with whoever crossed his path; this could be at work, around the fire, karaoke nights, or at various sports events and of course always at home with family.
Thank you so much to all family, friends and coworkers who checked in with encouragement, prayers and well wishes always making sure Jeff and his family were never alone or forgotten, and always knew that they had help and support close by.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA in Jeff’s honour. One of his greatest loves in life were his dogs, as he knew God had placed them specifically in our lives as best friends.
Faith was an important pillar in Jeff’s journey, join us at 11:00 AM for a Mass of Christian burial at St. Patrick's Parish (3339 Centennial Dr, Saskatoon, SK) Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. Lunch to follow.
