Julie Phillips

April 2, 1923 — February 22, 2026

Julie Phillips of Sherbrooke Community Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan passed away at the centre on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the age of 102 years old. 

Julie is lovingly remembered by her children: Wayne (Janelle) Phillips, Allan (Betty) Phillips, Joan (Dwain) Daniel, Jean (Terry) Elliott, Judy Phillips (daughter-in-law); by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Erin Elliott (John Kassam) and Maya Julie; Alison Elliott (Carlo Godoy) and Isabela, Sofia, Mateo; Heather Daniel Minier (Angelo Minier) and Ethan, Carter, Mitchell; Sheryl (Landon) Lavallee and Mila, Declan, Lennox; Timothy (Michino) Phillips and Johanna, Tohma, Momo, Misa; Heidi Phillips; Rebecca (Ross) Meacham and Tieg, Mac, Ida May; Carson Phillips (Katie Leah) and Elton, Dale; Leah (Austin) Schneider and Henrik, Juliana; by her sister-in-law Jenny Kuhmayer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Julie was predeceased by her parents Johann Tuider, Johanna and Leo Kuhmayer, husband Elton, son John, sister Joan Chorney and husband Peter, and brother Karl Kuhmayer.

Julianna Tuider was born April 2, 1923 to Johann and Johanna Tuider of Oberdorf, Austria. Her father died before she was born.

On February 26, 1927 her mother Johanna married Leopold Kuhmayer who moved to Canada shortly thereafter. On June 1, 1937 her mother Johanna, brother Karl, sister Joan and Julie reunited with Leo in the Midnight Lake District of Saskatchewan. Upon arrival in Canada, Julie attended Midnight Lake School.

She later married Elton Phillips of Birch Lake on October 27, 1945. They began raising their family of five - Wayne, Allan, and triplets Joan, Jean and John. Over the years, they lived in Makwa, Marlin, Sibbald Lake and Midnight Lake where Elton taught school. Later, they lived in Medstead and Glaslyn where he was school principal.

Julie will be remembered as a kind and active community member. She was involved in the Catholic Women’s League of Medstead. They also loved their weekly square dancing there. In Glaslyn, Julie was involved in the Order of the Royal Purple and Catholic Ladies Holy Cross Catholic Church. She enjoyed curling and was a devoted golfer and bowler.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Glaslyn; Sherbrooke Community Centre - House 5, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon; or to a charity of your choice.

Julie’s Memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Glaslyn at 1:30 pm., June 27, 2026 with Father Eddy Obi officiating. The internment will follow at the Glaslyn Cemetery. Please join us at the tea in the Glaslyn Hall after the service
