Terry John Hawkins

After years of pain and suffering Terry is at peace.

Terry passed away peacefully at home with his wife at side, with family attending.

Terry is survived by his wife, Topaz, his sons Jason & Ryan, his daughter Jennifer, sisters Lorie Unger and Valerie Hawkins, as well as Topaz’s sons and families. Trevis and Jennifer, Jeff and Karen and four grandchildren Claire, Matthew, Jacob and Adam.

Camping and fishing brought Terry a lot of joy. He spent a couple of summers out camping and fishing with his sons. Terry often spoke of the fun they had and fantastic meals they would share.

When his health deteriorated and camping wasn’t possible, he would go out fishing with his sister-in-law Paula. Many good stories and laughs were shared over the years.

Terry started out working for the railway and speaks highly of the men he worked with. Discovering he was color blind ended that career. At 25 Terry earned his journeyman’s licence as an electrician a job he excelled at. In his career as an electrician, he met every challenge with determination. He worked up north flying in small not so reliable planes. He ran his own business for several years continuously expanding his skills. Life changed again and he began working at the U of S, a job his dad was thrilled he got, Ernie had also worked there. It was at the university where he was able to share his wide range of skills with other young apprentices. Terry enjoyed working on high voltage, pulling cable and doing any number of out the ordinary things.

Terry’s strong sense of humor had people laughing and enjoying time together.

His mom and dad both pre-deceased him.

He is finally out of pain, free to fly with the angels laughing, joking and maybe even the odd game of crib.
